Donald Sterling Allowing Wife To Sell Clippers

Donald Sterling has handed over control of the Los Angeles Clippers to his estranged wife Shelly Sterling, USA Today reports.  Shelly Sterling, who previously co-owned the Clippers, will now negotiate with the NBA to sell the team.

The NBA banned Donald Sterling for life after a recording was publicly released, revealing racist remarks he'd made during a conversation with his assistant, V. Stiviano.

After the scandal Sterling initially refused to sell the Clippers, however, TMZ reports that his change of heart came upon realizing that if he retained control, the NBA would eventually force an involuntary sale of the team.

Though Shelly Sterling has been negotiating with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, it's unclear whether or not the NBA will agree to her having control of the Clippers.

A source told ESPN, "the only way the NBA would accept the terms of this agreement between Donald Sterling and his wife would be if the team was sold in its entirety."
