Robert Downey Jr.'s son was arrested for drug possession on Sunday.
20-year-old Indio Downey was arrested in West Hollywood during a traffic stop, and charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. TMZ reports that officers saw the passenger, Downey, reportely smoking from a pipe. He was released shortly after midnight after posting his $10,000 bail.
Before reviving his film career, Robert Downey Jr. had his own troubles with drugs, including spending time in jail before successfully completing court-ordered rehab.
Downey Jr. released this statement about Indio:
"Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being. We're grateful to the Sheriff's department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."
