With the departures of Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd and Jenni McCarthy, there are three open chairs on The View; Rosie O'Donnell is eyeing one of them.

Radar Online reports that Rosie and ABC are in mutual discussions to bring back the comedienne, who co-hosted the show for one season in 2007 before departing after a feud with then co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.  Just this February, Rosie appeared as a guest on the show for the first time since leaving.

“Rosie is in heavy talks right now to return to The View,” a source told Radar.  “In fact, Rosie was in talks to return before it was even confirmed that Jenny and Sherri were leaving.”

Whoopi Goldberg is currently the only host returning for The View's 18th season, and ABC is looking to bring back excitement to the show and boost ratings.  The network believes the controversy Rosie can bring will do both.

Other people rumored to considered for The View are Laila Ali and Bethenny Frankel.
