Its fall festival season! All around the Carolinas there are fun, free things for the family to do:

Festival in the Park at Freedom Park on East Boulevard in Charlotte. Hundreds of arts and crafts exhibits. There will be rides and attractions and more than 1000 performers on five stages. Sept 25-27. It all starts at 4pm Friday and wraps up at 6pm Sunday. Get details at www.festivalinthepark.org

Kaleidoscope Cultural Arts Festival on West Avenue in downtown Kannapolis, NC. A day of music, dancers, jugglers, clowns and craft makers from noon to 4pm on Sept. 26. Get the scoop at www.kannapolisarts.com

Artfest of Matthews at the Matthews Chamber of Commerce on Matthews Station St in Matthews, NC. Listen to live music, buy art and there'lll be a hands-on art area just for kids. Sept 26-27. The fun starts on Saturday at 10am and it ends 5pm Sunday. Find more info at www.matthewschamber.org

Catch-and-Release Youth Fishing Tournament on Goat Island in downtown Cramerton, NC. Youth (ages 17 and under) awards will be given for the largest, smallest, and ugliest fish. Registration will be available on the morning of the tournament. Fishing permits are not required for children 15 and under or for the parents of those children. Sept. 26 from 7am-10am.
