Buying a "cage-free" or "hormone-free" turkey means you'll probably pay a higher price for your bird this Thanksgiving. The problem is those are marketing terms put on the label to gobble up your food budget. American turkey farms don't raise birds in cages and it's against the law to give hormones to turkeys in the U.S. The term "young turkey" makes no sense either. Every turkey you see at the grocery store is young. It'd be a bad business move for a farmer to feed a bird a few more years just to unload an old turkey on you.
